Assystem has become a founding sponsor of Women in Nuclear UK to support the industry’s goal of reaching 40% of women in nuclear by 2030.
Women have a vital role to play in designing the world of tomorrow and the nuclear industry is at the forefront of this challenge as the developers of the low carbon energy technology that will decarbonise the economy.
As the UK nuclear industry strives to reach 40% of women in nuclear by 2040 the challenge ahead is how the industry can attract greater numbers of women to nuclear when women represent less than 19% (UCAS 2020) of those studying engineering at University.
The Women in Nuclear network plays a vital role in addressing the industry’s gender balance and improving the representation of women in leadership. As a founding sponsor, Assystem will secure the future of this network that will fund the continued provision of high-quality events such as the forthcoming skills festival. Beginning on 22 March, the festival will be a five-day online event offering essential learning, inspiration and discovery. with companies and figures working together to encourage and excite the next generation of nuclear professionals.
